Important Construction Progress Updates for CBC Timeshare Owners

We’re very excited about the progress that we’re making at Coral Beach Club and have full confidence that it will soon be restored as a unique and luxurious beach front community.

Here are the exciting updates regarding CBC’s reconstruction…

Contractors have been hard at work restoring each CBC villa to its luxurious pre-storm condition. We’ve placed orders for major elements of the renovation including air conditioners, doors and windows, kitchens and bathroom cabinets, countertops, appliances, floor, wall tiles and hurricane shutters. We’ll order electrical and plumbing fixtures and landscape materials in January. Contractors are also making good progress on the common elements. We still expect to complete the entire project in June 2019.

We’re working diligently to open several of the less-damaged beach view villas for occupancy in late February/early March, assuming everything progresses in accordance with plans. This includes villas 11, 12 and possibly 13. We intend to open reservations for CBC owners in January (assuming the contractor meets current projections). OBBR/CBC reservations representatives will confirm when we can take reservations.

We’re in contact with our exclusive exchange and luxury benefits provider, Preferred Residences, to let them know that we’re coming back “on line.” As you know, an affiliation with Preferred Residences gives CBC vacation owners access to many of the finest hotels and villas in the world at either discounted room rates or through an exchange of your week at CBC.

The benefits of the Preferred Residence Program are explained in your CBC Owner Membership booklet that you received at your point-of-purchase. It includes, without limitation, discounted room rates as well as golf packages in very exclusive hotels, resorts and golf clubs worldwide. The program also affords a trading capability for your use rights in a CBC villa for wonderful stays at exclusive member resorts (listed in your Preferred Residences Membership Booklet).

Currently, most of the services offered by membership in Preferred Residences are available to Coral Beach Club members. For further explanation and guidance in getting the most out of the affiliation, please call (866)-978-7278.

As your villa is still under renovation, it’s not yet available for trading through the program. When some of the units open earlier than June 2019, they will be available to trade or to occupy. Until the Coral Beach Club rebuild is completed, trading your interval at CBC for a stay at Oyster Bay Beach Resort is always an attractive option (subject to availability).

OYSTER BAY BEACH RESORT UPDATES

The restoration of Oyster Bay Beach Resort continues on schedule. We’re very excited about the quality of the work throughout the Resort — specifically the finishing work in the units, as well as the attractiveness of the new furnishings and art in all of the units.

The attention and skill used in the renovation are evident in every part of the reconstruction and remaking of OBBR. From the renovated terrace and fountains of the Infinity Pool to the new lobby — and of course the sparkling new exterior colors of the buildings and the upgraded units — is most impressive. Guests and employees alike are amazed and delighted at the resort that is re-emerging out of the wreckage of Irma. Phase two’s 48 units were completed on November 15, adding to the already renovated 80 units in Phase 1. Plus, the new ocean front units in buildings 22-30 are now in use. The resort expects to complete the remaining 54 units on schedule by January 15, 2019. We’re already taking bookings and the units are filling quickly. All owners are being accommodated — but act quickly if you plan on making reservations.

After working from temporary desks and equipment since June 15, the lobby is on its way to being completely restored. The temporary desks for check-in, check-out, activities and car rental are being replaced by built-in milled wooden desks that will give a sophisticated but tropical ambiance to the lobby. The construction of the desks and other lobby enhancements started November 27, 2017 and should be completed by December 7.

Infinity Restaurant is quite busy. Its popular Sunday Buffet has become famous not just on the island but also on Anguilla. The guests’ reaction and comments have been great and very gratifying for the staff.

In summary, we couldn’t be happier with the fast recovery of the Resort and its very bright future.

LOCAL HAPPENINGS: OYSTER BAY

The owner of Big Fish restaurant, part of the Coral Beach Club, is hard at work restoring his very popular restaurant. He plans to open by mid-December. He’ll be joining Oyster Bay’s Infinity Restaurant and many other island restaurants that are now fully restored and open for guests.

The houses surrounding the Resort on the hills of Oyster Bay have been repaired and look beautiful again. The relighting of the hillside by so many residences is just in time for the holidays.

ISLAND NEWS OF RECONSTRUCTION

Progress continues on reconstruction efforts throughout the island. Most importantly, the airport has assured island residents that the first floor of the airport terminal will be available by mid-December. The second floor is scheduled to be completed by mid-February 2019. This is very good news for all of St. Maarten and its guests, and it will be a recovery milestone. Attached are the revised and enhanced flight schedules from most major points in the Eastern United States for flights to St. Maarten. As the airport approaches completion, the schedule will improve.

The Netherlands government has made $650,000,000 available to the Island for reconstruction, infrastructure repair and improvement, and for payment of government expenses and other programs. This will be spent over the next several years. The money is being distributed and monitored by the World Bank. The distributions are starting to have a very positive effect on the Island, spurring it to a faster and better recovery.
